Description

We are looking for The Civil Engineer is responsible for assisting the Resident Engineer in planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the project(s). He will ensure client criteria and scope are met by all engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

1. SITE MANAGEMENT & DELIVERABLES – CONSTRUCTION STAGE

· Carry out construct ability review during the construction stages.

· Review in a timely manner the Design Consultant / Contractor(s) submittals and forward comments to the Manager.

· Ensure the Design Consultant / Contractor(s) incorporate the comments raised from previous stages.

· Attend Progress and Technical meetings with the Contractor(s) and other Subcontractors.

· Review Contractor proposed design organizations and related CV's and report to Manager on his findings.

· Coordinate with Consultant's Document Controller to ensure that all Documents related to his discipline are properly controlled.

· Review the alternatives to the Design concept submitted by the Design Consultant / Contractor(s), prepare and submit a report including recommendation to the Manager highlighting advantages and disadvantages of each alternative.

· Review the materials proposed by the Design Consultant / Contractor(s) and propose alternative to improve the quality, future maintenance, safety and cost effectiveness.

· Review the change requests/ Variations submitted by the Contractor(s).

· Participate in the pre-qualification of the construction Subcontractors.

· Chair the Technical and Progress meetings that will be held with the Contractor(s).

2. TECHNICAL AND QA/QC

· Ensure that the works are carried out as per the specification, approved construction drawing and method statement. And confirm that the works are properly inspected at the required stages.

· Issue and administer non-conformance, corrective action reports as necessary and ensure follow up.

· Ensure the verification of documentation and certificates for material purchased.

· Prepare daily/weekly quality reports and submit to the consultant (if required) and Managers for review and record.

· Check and ensure that required tests are performed and verify its compliance against requirements.

· Report quality-related matters to the Project Manager for taking necessary action and reports to Quality Manager for information.

Qualifications

1. Education and Training

· Degree educated – Bachelor degree in Engineering

· Eligible for GCC engineering membership

· Knowledge of local laws and regulations

· Knowledge in International and Regional Codes & Standards

· Excellent command of written and spoken English

2. Experience

· Previous experience of 4- 7 years as Civil Engineer

· With related Consultancy experience is preferable

· 3 years’ minimum experience on a large-sized construction project

· Experienced in FIDIC environment contracts (Preferred)

· Experienced in managing and coordinating project tasks
