The tasks will include:
Coordination of the activities of the projects, involving multiple partners, including facilitation of scientific interactions and execution of administrative tasks;
Fundraising activities, including searching for new funding opportunities and contributions to the writing, editing, and proofreading of proposals;
Communication tasks, including designing and updating of websites and social media sites, correspondence with scientists and other stake holders from national and international organizations;
Sporadic organization and execution of scientific events, such as workshops and conferences;
Molecular biological and biochemical assays in vitro, in cell culture systems and in vivo models;
Research topics in the group range from composition of health promoting substances in plant-based foods, influence of genetics on composition of fibres and phytochemicals in grains, bioactive properties of modified fibres and phytochemicals, molecular interactions between dietary fibres and small molecules etc; and
All related work as per project(s) requirements
Your profile
We are looking for:
Outstanding, highly motivated people interested in advancing their research career in the multidisciplinary area of (bio)chemical aspects related to healthy and sustainable foods;
Final details of the postdoctoral project will be specified based on the prior experience and expertise of the selected candidate;
Must have a PhD (doctorate) or Masters (MSC) in molecular cell biology, biochemistry, material sciences, or related fields;
At least two years’ experience in academia or industry as a postdoc or equivalent;
Experience in scientific writing, project management, coordination, and fundraising is essential;
He/she should have an independent, pragmatic, collaborative, pro-active, organized and self-motivated working style;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Flexibility and interest in team-oriented work are essential;
Fluency in English, excellent English grammar skills and proficiency in Microsoft tools are also a must;
Knowledge of Arabic is helpful but not a strict requirement;
Experience in cell culture, molecular biology/genome editing (e.g. qPCR, RNAseq, etc.), immunohistochemically and biochemical techniques is essential;
Experience with interpretation models of diseases/deficiency will be advantageous;
Experience with iPSC culture and/or mass spectrometry will be advantageous;
The candidate should have demonstrable track record of research excellence and be capable of both work independently and collaboratively in a team;
Excellent organizational and time management skills;
Excellent skills in spoken and written English;
High motivation, flexibility as well as innovate and creative thinking are a must; and
Applicants should have a strong background in working knowledge of epigenetics in particular chromatin remodeling and/or long non-coding RNA, with previous work experience in molecular biology and biochemical analysis.
